Summer Reading 2023

June, 2023

Dear Parents of Students in Grades K-5,

While you and your child(ren) are enjoying the summer, please make reading a part of your summer fun! Not only will your child be entertained by books, but summer reading will maintain and reinforce important reading skills taught over the course of the year. We are strongly recommending that your child join the summer reading program at your local public library. All students who submit their reading reports/responses to their teacher in September will receive an award and a treat!

Each student in grades K-5 is to follow these summer reading guidelines:

  • Grade K, 1, 2 – read 5 books accompanied by 5 book reports
  • Grade 3, 4 – read 4 books accompanied by 4 book reports
  • Grade 5 – read 3 books accompanied by 3 book reports

This year, we purchased one of those summer reading books for the entire grade, so you have one book already! I hope that our students enjoy their gift of a book for the summer (that they received from their teacher at the end of the year)!

All book reports must be handed in to your new teacher during the first five days of school in September, 2023. The book reports will not be accepted after that! Thank you and see you on September!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Naviha Ponce Paz, Principal IA
